Compromise joint bar is also called special-shaped joint splint. The two halves have different cross-sectional dimensions and are used to connect two different types of rails.

In the past, the special-shaped rail fishplates produced by various manufacturers were of uniform cross-section, and their service life was very short. Under the impact of repeated axle loads, they would break in two or three weeks. It is hard to escape, and once it breaks, it will endanger driving safety.
Workers in the maintenance department must frequently monitor the condition of these joints and replace broken fishplates and bolts in time to ensure driving safety. At these joints, it's very necessary to prepare a few pairs of track fishplates to be replaced. The short service life and the frequency of replacement of the special-shaped fishplates of equal cross-sections will increase a lot of work to the track repair department.
